Seminar: "IT Security in Automation Technology"

Lemgo /

With participants from different areas of industry, different complexes of topics were intensively examined over three days. The focus was on automation and Industry 4.0, secure industrial communication connections, network analysis, public key infrastructure (PKI), attack techniques and securing industrial infrastructure through the application of the IEC 62443 security standard. In order to give the variety of training content application relevance, the series of lectures were supplemented by practical exercises in small groups on state-of-the-art demonstrators.

Lemgo. Cyber security is a prerequisite for the sustainable success of Industrie 4.0 use cases such as plug&work, condition monitoring or optimisation. To this end, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA organised the seminar "IT Security in Automation Technology" from 13.05.2018 to 15.03.2018 at the SmartfactoryOWL.

The feedback from participants on the event reflected the interest and need for action from the business community:

"The seminar was very interesting and broad in subject matter. The basics and the topic of encryption were worked through in an interesting way - these are summarised in a good overview in the guides. Our most important conclusion, especially for the application level: security must work without being restrictive!"

Ralf Meier, Jowat SE

"I particularly appreciated the technical environment of the seminar, the equipment and the premises were optimal.
The presentations were very practical the lecturers sought detailed feedback and ideas from the participants. It is great to have so many dedicated young academics presenting.
You get a broad view of different sectors and their problems as well as impulses for implementation in your own company. In summary: highly professional."
