Special exhibition at Brake Castle, Lemgo

Can artificial intelligence be creative? This question is the focus of the new special exhibition “A Kind of Art. Artificial Intelligence Meets (Weser) Renaissance,” which will be on display from September 16 to December 14, 2025, at Brake Castle and the Weser Renaissance Museum. Together with numerous partners from Lemgo and the East Westphalia-Lippe region, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA is actively involved in designing the exhibition, contributing its many years of expertise in artificial intelligence research.

Fraunhofer IOSB-INA has been researching AI solutions for the city of the future, for production and crafts, and for social applications for many years. The exhibition now opens up a new field: the encounter between science and art. Visitors can experience firsthand at interactive stations how AI supports creative processes, creates images, or reinterprets existing works. It's not just about the technical fascination, but also about fundamental questions: What role does AI play in our culture and society? What opportunities does it open up, and what limitations become apparent?

“The exhibition is as inspiring for us researchers as it is for the general public. It invites dialogue and shows that artificial intelligence can be more than just a tool—it can provide food for thought and stimulate discussion,” explains Fraunhofer IOSB-INA.

Special thanks go to the hosts Silvia Hermann and Dr. Susanne Hilker from Brake Castle with the Weser Renaissance Museum, as well as all the partners involved, including the Old Hanseatic City of Lemgo, the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences, CENTRUM INDUSTRIAL IT (CIIT) e. V., the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe (LWL), the Lippe Regional Association, and Astrid Alteheld.

The exhibition will be on display from September 16 to December 14, 2025, at Brake Castle in Lemgo. Interested parties are cordially invited to discover the creative dimension of artificial intelligence for themselves.
