Development of test models for data generation

Bachelor or master thesis

At Fraunhofer, we invent the future - as the largest research organization for application-oriented research in Europe. Fraunhofer IOSB-INA in Lemgo offers committed employees exciting tasks with a lot of responsibility and creative freedom. Our mission is: "Empowering our Partners for the Digital Age". On behalf of our customers from the various sectors of business and government, we apply the latest findings from science and application to concrete projects in an interdisciplinary manner. We are one of the leading research institutions in the technology network "Intelligent Technical Systems Ostwestfalen-Lippe it's OWL".

Development of test models for data generation in the field of machine learning

Fraunhofer IOSB-INA is working on machine learning algorithms that are used to analyze and optimize industrial production plants. For the evaluation of these algorithms, data sets representing plant behavior are necessary. In the course of an internship/thesis, a selection of test models is to be created from which data sets can be generated.

These test models are to be created using the simulation tool OpenModelica, which is based on the Modelica modeling language. The models are to be used both offline for generating test data sets and online for live evaluation of algorithms.

Your profile:

  • You are studying mathematics, optimization and simulation, computer science or equivalent.
  • You demonstrate an independent and structured way of working.
  • You are proficient in at least one programming language (for example, C, C++, Python).
  • Ideally, you have already gained experience in creating simulations using the Modelica modeling language.

What you can expect:

  • You will work independently on an exciting project and conceptualize, model and implement software for intelligent technical systems.
  • In this way, you make an important contribution to improving the efficiency and flexibility of cyberphysical production systems.
