Development of an augmented reality-supported application for a city tour (Smart City Tour)

In order to make digital innovations in the urban context accessible to the citizens of a city and other interested groups, a Smart City Tour with augmented reality (AR) elements is to be developed. Embedded in a city tour, technical content is to be made visible at stations to be defined in advance with the help of AR. The focus is on an illustrative presentation that can be used in a city tour. Existing elements of a Smart City Tour, without AR technologies, which have already been created, serve as a basis.

Components of the work:

  • Literature study on technologies under consideration here for the implementation of the application as a whole and the AR portions therein.
  • Detailed development of a concept for an AR-supported smart city tour, taking into account the elements already in place.
  • Design of a modular application structure that allows easy expansion or customization of the elements of a Smart City Tour, including the input/control elements required to do so.
  • Identification of the target groups of such a tour, as well as of meaningful stations of the Smart City Tour
  • Development of the content to be presented with the innovation content for each station of the Smart City Tour.
  • Conceptual design of the AR presentation tailored to the target group
  • Implementation of the AR representation in an application that can be easily used in the context of a city tour
  • Verification of the application on a real test object
  • Work documentation

Your profile:

  • Good programming skills in object-oriented applications, as well as web applications
  • Knowledge of augmented reality, its use and programming
  • Interest in independent and practical work
