Research assistant in the field of IT security in industry (f/m)

What you bring:

  • You have a university degree in computer science, automation technology, electrical engineering or mathematics (Dipl.-Ing., Dipl.-Phys., M.Sc.).
  • You have experience in offensive IT security (e.g. penetration testing, exploit development) and network engineering.
  • In addition, you have very good German and English language skills and are characterized by the ability to work in a team and an independent, structured and goal-oriented approach to work.
  • If you are suitably qualified, we offer the possibility of a successful doctorate and provide you with the facilities and laboratories of our institute for this purpose..


What you can expect:

  • In exciting and varied projects with partners from industry and science, you will uncover security vulnerabilities in networked technical systems.
  • In this way, you will make an important contribution to improving the reliability of cyber-physical production systems.
  • You will work in an interdisciplinary team with a high degree of independence and take on tasks in the research and development of new solutions for safe intelligent technical systems on your own responsibility.


Her main areas of activity in detail:

  • Conception and execution of penetration tests for the detection of security vulnerabilities in networked technical systems
  • Conception, development (analysis / specification / implementation) and testing (validation and verification) of IT security solutions for networked systems
  • Development of support offers for the economy
  • Cross-site collaboration, e.g. with the safety laboratory available at the institute
  • Establishment of the new group "IT Security for Industrial Production“
  • Project results represented to clients and through publications in the professional community

Employment, remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD). In addition, Fraunhofer may grant performance- and success-based variable compensation components. The position is initially limited to 2 years. The weekly working time is 39 hours.
