Intelligent sensor systems in production

From the sensor to the cloud: basic knowledge for companies

On the way to the smart factory: gaining transparency

Knowledge and technology transfer has many facets. In addition to cooperation between scientific institutions and companies on specific development projects, the transfer of know-how in application-oriented seminars plays another important role.

The seminar

The one-day seminar "Intelligent Sensor Systems in Production" offers a practical introduction to the application possibilities of sensor technology for Smart Factories in the context of Industrie 4.0. The course teaches the basic types and application possibilities of sensor technology - from theory to practical example as well as from the individual industrial sensor to the Internet. The focus is on application-related practice and is based on the production data acquisition system INAsense, which was developed by Fraunhofer IOSB-INA.

Lecturers: Dr. Holger Flatt
Number of participants: Max. 12
Date: To be determined
Location: Hotel Wehrmann-Blume, Kolenfelder Straße 86, 31515 Wunstorf
Main focus:

Introduction to the world of sensor technology

  • Sensor types
  • Measuring principles
  • Signal interpretation and processing

Practical exercises on the mobile sensor system INAsense (Part 1)

  • Connection of industrial sensors to a programmable logic controller (PLC)
  • Interpretation of the acquired sensor values
  • Industrial application scenarios
  • Industrial image evaluation
  • Localization of objects within industrial environments
  • Retrofitting of existing industrial equipment

Practical exercise on the mobile sensor system INAsense (Part 2)

  • Configuration of the interfaces (Analog/IO/Modbus TCP/OPA UA)
  • Setup and test of a server-based data visualization and evaluation system
Target group: The seminar is aimed at beginners in the application of industrial sensor technology. The focus here is on business professionals (e.g. decision makers, product managers, product marketing and developers) with a technical background as an introduction to the application of simple and complex sensor technology in the context of the Smart Factory and various Industrie 4.0 applications. Programming knowledge is not a prerequisite for this seminar.
Benefit:

In the course of the seminar, you will learn in one day how additional sensor technology can be used profitably in your company. You will learn the basics of sensor technology (types, measurement principles, signal interpretation and processing) as well as application examples for simple and more complex sensor systems. In practical exercises, different industrial sensors are connected to a PLC using our mobile production data acquisition system INAsense, forwarded to a central cloud application via OPC UA and then evaluated..
