Topic: Mobile analysis of production plants

The intelligent workpiece carrier "INAcarry" developed by Fraunhofer IOSB-INA is a mobile measurement system for monitoring production plants.In contrast to conventional systems for this purpose, the sensor box is not permanently mounted at a critical position, but is moved through the entire plant, e.g. on a workpiece carrier. In this way, measured values (e.g. vibration, temperature, humidity and volume) can be recorded plant-wide and the overall condition of the plant can be assessed on the basis of the evaluation. In this way, predictive maintenance of production plants can be realized.

Your tasks:

As part of the work, the intelligent workpiece carrier "INAcarry" is to be supplemented with an optical sensor as a visual data acquisition option. The goal is to transmit a video stream to an edge server that evaluates the incoming data using AI-based image processing algorithms and can detect anomalies in the system, such as a flashing signal lamp.

Development of an AI-based image processing system:

  • Concept
  • Installation and commissioning of a camera system on a single-board computer
  • Implementation of a video transmission in real time
  • Implementation of a video stream analysis e.g. with TensorFlow
